Faith MOVES
Scriptures: 1 Samuel 8:1–7, Mark 5:25–34
Introduction
In a world driven by visibility and validation, the quiet strength of faith often stands in contrast. This message explores two powerful biblical narratives: Israel's demand for a visible king and the woman with the issue of blood. One story ends in spiritual compromise; the other in healing and hope. Both reveal how we respond in moments of desperation—and what true surrender to God looks like.
1. When Israel Chose Visibility Over Divine Leadership
In 1 Samuel 8, Israel requested, “Give us a king to judge us like all the other nations.” Their reason? Samuel’s sons were corrupt. But God exposed the real issue: “They have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.”
Israel traded divine distinction for cultural conformity. They chose to blend in rather than stand out as God's chosen.
⚠️ Be careful what you ask for. God may grant it—but that doesn’t mean you’re in His will.
2. The Woman Who Chose Faith Over Fear
In contrast, the woman in Mark 5 had suffered for 12 years—physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Despite rejection and pain, she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
Her bold, quiet faith moved Jesus. He felt power leave Him. Her healing was not just physical—it restored her emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
3. Faith or Flesh: A Tale of Two Responses
Israel | The Woman | |
---|---|---|
Start | In the Spirit (under God’s reign) | In the Flesh (seeking doctors) |
End | In the Flesh (under human king) | In the Spirit (healed by Jesus) |
Response | Demanding | Humble and believing |
Focus | Visible solutions | Invisible faith |
4. Three Questions for Reflection
- Do you believe more in the natural or the supernatural?
The woman believed in what she couldn’t see. Israel rejected what they couldn’t see. - Where is your desperation leading you?
To surrender or to control? - What is the state of your heart?
Do you approach God with humility—or entitlement?
5. A Mother's Resilience: Quiet Faith in Action
On Mother’s Day, we honour the quiet strength of mothers—those who push, pray, and persevere even when exhausted. Like the woman with the issue of blood, many mothers fight private battles with public grace.
🌸 To every mother: your resilience reflects divine strength. You were created to stand.
Conclusion: Make a Faith Move
Don’t let visible impossibilities stop you from believing in the invisible God. Whether it's healing, breakthrough, or hope—you don't need to be seen to be noticed by Jesus.
Just like the woman, reach in faith. Just like a mother, don’t give up. Surrender like Israel didn’t, and you’ll see God move in your life.
